Flotec Industrial Limited. 2023 - A Year of Excellence.
Updated: Oct 12, 2023
2023 has undoubtedly been a turbo-charged year for the business with plenty of exciting events and activities taking place.
Major Contract Win with Northern.
With the announcement late last year of a major contract win with train operator Northern, 2023 obviously got off to a rocket-fuelled start as Flotec’s on-site engineering team got busy upgrading the entire Northern fleet of 15x legacy DMU (diesel multiple unit) trains.
Rolling with Networking and Events.
In May of this year, Flotec exhibited at Railtex. This renowned rail industry event presented an opportunity for the business to promote it’s DMU engine cooling solutions, in the form of the award-winning variable pitch fan and associated system.
Also on display was a brand-new portable train battery charging unit, ideal for outstation and remote track-side locations.
On Track for Success with Training.
Earlier this year, Flotec’s very own financial super star Sophie Wright successfully passed her first module of a Level 4, AAT Diploma in Accounting.
More recently, marketing maestro Barry Michael Aldridge has achieved a Chartered Institute of Marketing badge in Equality, Diversity, and Inclusion in Marketing Principles.
September witnessed Flotec’s purchasing prodigy Chloe Smith commence with a Chartered Institute of Purchasing and Supply Level 4 Diploma!
This coincided with a year that has seen both Chloe Lofthouse and Smith (The Purchasing Duo) rack up an impressive thirteen years of service between them.
Pounding the Drum for Sales and Business Growth.
Throughout the year, Business Development Director guru Richard Hodgkinson and his team have continued to drive sales and growth on the industrial side of the business.
Walking for Charity.
On Sunday 6th August, purchasing legend Chloe Lofthouse underwent a walk for charity.
Organised by Hermitage Nursery, the event raised money for Child Autism UK.
Flotec Bids Farewell to a Stalwart Member of the Team.
It was with fond memories and the highest of regard that Flotec said farewell to Judith Bullers as she embarked upon her next adventure.
Judith said of her time at Flotec: “I have thoroughly enjoyed my time working for the company. It has been fantastic to see Flotec grow from just a few to the size that we are now, and I wish all of you and Flotec Industrial Limited the best of luck and fortune for the future.”
Managing Director Julian Davies praised Judith’s efforts by saying: “Judith has been a true stalwart member of Flotec Industrial Limited. She's been an exceptional employee, loyal, reliable, dependable, and hard-working. I personally want to praise and thank Judith for her hard work, commitment, and contribution to the business over the past eighteen and a half years.
She has been an incredible asset in helping to shape the company into what it is today, and I wish her all the very best for the future.”
Celebrating 25 Years.
In May, Flotecs very own business development and sales legend Maria Smith celebrated 25 years of service.
Originally required to serve local industries such as agriculture, power and general manufacturing, Maria has also been influential in helping to develop the Flotec Rail Division and recently spent three years on the Board of Directors for Derby-based Rail Forum.
Twenty-five years is an incredible achievement whereby Maria has been a critical figure in the success of Flotec.
The entire team at Flotec value Maria for her hard-working ethic, commitment, professionalism, and her kind and fun-loving personality.
Flotec Seals the Deal!
This year, Flotec partnered with Italian manufacturer Flexbimec to become sole UK distributor of their high-quality and innovative hose-reel products.
Flexbimec’s hose reel products are designed to improve safety, efficiency, and environmental performance throughout a wide variety of industrial applications.
Flotec is Supporting Mental Well-Being.
In the final quarter of this year, Flotec is supporting homeware-store Dunelm in its charitable work and is inviting you to get involved!
Dunelm teams up with Mind.
Understandably, mental wellbeing has been at the forefront of many people’s minds in recent years.
The pandemic, political uncertainty, cost-of-living crisis, war, terrorism, environmental events, sociological unrest, a rise in hate crime, and being bombarded with disturbing and distressing news stories are all major contributors towards our state-of-mind.
This list is by no means exhaustive as each person will face unique and different challenges, however, without a doubt, we are living in troublesome and challenging times.
According to Mind, approximately 1 in 4 people in the UK will experience a mental health problem each year.
In England, 1 in 6 people report experiencing a common mental health (such as anxiety and depression) in any given week.
These figures are expected to increase.
Homeware-store Dunelm has partnered with Mind to raise both money and awareness to support the fight for better mental health.
Flotec is taking part in this honourable cause, and you can, too!
We have created a Just Giving page to support Dunelm in raising some much-needed money for their charity of choice, Mind.
The Flotec Just Giving page is LIVE right now and will continue to run until Friday 8th December of this year.
You can help us in our mission to support mental well-being by clicking here to donate.
Visit the Dunelm website to discover how they and Mind are supporting mental well-being by clicking here.
If you need the services offered by Mind, please visit their website to find out how they can help. No one should face a mental health problem alone.
Into the Future.
With just a few months left of 2023, 2024 looks set to bring even more adventures and stories from the exciting world of Flotec, SME manufacturing, engineering, and fluid power!
