Riding for Charity

Writer: Barry Michael AldridgeBarry Michael Aldridge

Flotec’s very own motorcycle enthusiast Simon Barsby will be taking part in this year’s Christmas Toy Run.

Organised by Derbyshire’s motorcycle training school UpRight, the event involves a convoy of bikes setting off from the Pidcocks Motorcycles Store in Long Eaton to the head offices of Safe & Sound in Darley Abbey Mill, Derbyshire.

The motorcycle ride will take place on 17th December 2022.

Safe and Sound is a local charity who works with children at risk of child sexual exploitation.

The good cause helps to raise awareness and education around exploitation and provides support and recovery to those vulnerable young people who suffer from it.

Simon is kindly asking for gifts to give to the charity to make Christmas a happier time for vulnerable children in our local community.

The charity does a lot of craft work with the children and young people that they support, so any craft materials, painting pebbles, clay, soap making or cookie decorating kits would be fantastic. For the older children, gift vouchers for places such as Smyths, WHSmith, Primark or Boots would be great, along with activity vouchers for the cinema or bowling and toiletry sets for teenage boys and girls.

Donated gifts can be sent to the Flotec head office marked for the attention of Simon Barsby – Christmas Toy Run, to arrive no later than Wednesday 15th December 2022.
