Coolant System Enhancements
By using the Bluestripe EPDM coolant hose and the PowerGrip clamp, this pioneering product combination has been proven to completely eliminate leaking hoses on rolling stock and significantly reduce downtime.
With the support of both Angel Trains and Porterbrook, Flotec have been fitting the PowerGrip and Bluestripe coolant hose solution on rolling stock across the country for a long time.
We have worked with a number of TOC’s, including Arriva Trains Wales, West Midlands Trains, Northern Rail, Scotrail, and Great Western Railway and since each trial fitment, the use of the PowerGrip Clamps and Blue Stripe Hose have:
• Eliminated leaking hoses.
• Significantly saved on cost.
• Reduced downtime.
• Offered a “fit and forget” solution.
The solution has removed the long-standing problem of coolant hose leaks, with fleet fit imminent on a number of Train Operating Companies. We have upgraded the following classes:

Hydrostatic Hose Optimisation
As poor routing and support is another factor that frequently leads to premature hose failure, Flotec also offer a Hydrostatic Hose Optimisation Solution. Working in collaboration with customer engineers to understand existing installation history, we provide expert advice on ways to improve routing, create bespoke hose assemblies to customer requirements and complete the installation from start to finish.
The products that we mainly use to upgrade these applications include the MegaCrimp C-insert Coupling, which is the only leak-free coupling on the market, and the MED-HT hose, which is a revolutionary, EN 45545-2 fire approved hose.
Flotec’s recommendations are incorporated into C4 maintenance programmes. On all future C4 exam works, the Flotec product is fitted with confidence and is warranted for exam cycles.

All through the process, Flotec worked tirelessly to promptly develop the required solution, encompassing the proven Gates hose and Floring seal technology with the routing with clipping and bracketry solutions providing the high-level medium for optimum performance. The level of engineering, product and after sales support was excellent throughout the development, trial and fleet fit installation phases, responding quickly to customer needs and going the extra mile to deliver satisfaction. Flotec’s service included specifying and cataloguing a comprehensive toolkit for the full installation and supporting the customer in compiling a full installation instruction, whilst providing a full warranty on the kit material for the duration of the Heavy Maintenance interventions where it was installed.
