Flotec employee completes motorcycle ride for local children’s charity.

Flotec’s delivery driver Simon Barsby has completed a motorcycle ride to support an East Midlands charity who care for children that have been exposed to or are at risk from exploitation.

A collection of festively decorated motorcycles ready to make their way to the Safe and Sound head office.

The annual Christmas bike convoy is organised by UpRight, a Derbyshire Constabulary initiative which provides motorcycle safety training.

The charity cycle run was held on Saturday 17th December 2022 and collected toys, gifts, and craft items to help give festive joy to young people under the care of Derbyshire charity, Safe and Sound.

A convoy of festively decorated motorcycles departed from the Roy Pidcock BMW Motorcycle Store, Long Eaton at 11.00am and made its way under emergency services escort to the Safe and Sound head office in Darley Abbey Mill, Derbyshire.

Simon Barsby said of the event; “The day was fantastic, and ram packed with enthusiastic bikers all with a passion for collecting festive presents for children at risk of exploitation and to raise awareness for local charity, Safe and Sound.

I would like to thank Derbyshire Constabulary for doing a sterling job of escorting those of us who took part.

Thanks also to everyone who donated gifts to the cause. This will make a huge difference to many children in our community and give them a brighter Christmas.”

There is still time to donate gifts to Simon for him to pass on to Safe and Sound with the final cut off day being this Thursday 22nd December.

The charity does a lot of craft work with the children and young people that they support, so any craft materials, painting pebbles, clay, soap making or cookie decorating kits would be fantastic. For the older children, gift vouchers for places such as Smyths, WHSmith, Primark or Boots would be great, along with activity vouchers for the cinema or bowling and toiletry sets for teenage boys and girls.

Donated gifts can be delivered to the Flotec head office marked for the attention of Simon Barsby – Christmas Toy Run, to arrive no later than Thursday 22nd December 2022.
