BOGIE OVERHAUL | A FLOTEC RAIL STORY

Flotec was approached by a major track maintenance company - responsible for maintaining thousands of miles of the Uks railway - to overhaul a set of hydraulic hoses on one of their bogies – the undercarriage assembly that handles braking, suspension, and traction.

Flotec's engineer Kye Hadley, set about performing the tried and tested Hose Management Programme, examining and reporting on areas of concern, including:

• Hose damage

• Hose abrasion

• Hose pressure

• Incorrect routing

• Excessive wear

Hadley developed an effective engineering solution, which involved replacing the faulty hoses and correctly routing their replacements to increase product efficiency, performance and prevent hose failures on essential parts.

With Flotec being an official Gates Hydraulics Distributor, Kye made sure to route and install an EN 45545 fire safe compliant market leading hose product, capable of withstanding temperatures up to 100oC and tested to 600,000 impulse cycles – making them last three times longer than alternative hose products available on the market.
