Flotec signs the EDI Charter.
Loughborough-based Flotec, a trusted and leading supplier of reliable hose and engineering solutions to the rail market, has signed the EDI Charter.
The Equality, Diversity and Inclusion Charter is a rail sector initiative jointly lead by Women in Rail (WR) and the Railway Industry Association (RIA).
The objective of the EDI Charter is to improve equality, diversity, and inclusion within the rail workforce and to make sure everyone working in our industry feels included and supported in their personal and professional development and growth.
On 12th December 2022, Flotec was welcomed as a signatory company to the scheme in recognition of its organisational commitment to EDI.
Flotec’s designated EDI Champion and Head of Marketing Barry Michael Aldridge discusses in detail the reason to join the EDI Charter:
“EDI is a subject matter that resonates incredibly close to my heart.
Having been the victim of hate crime and a long-time believer in aligning commercial activity with ethical conduct, I believe equality, diversity and inclusion is good for business, good for society and good for communities.
Entering the rail sector in 2017, I was immediately captivated by its kindness and inclusion.
Rail is a sector quite unlike any other I have ever worked in and couldn’t imagine being anywhere else.
The EDI Charter venture from Women in Rail and RIA is testament to the rail sector, its people and what we are striving to achieve.
SME Flotec has a series of published core values which embraces EDI.
So, signing the EDI Charter seemed a natural thing to do.
The Flotec team is small, consisting of just twenty-five, but within us are incredibly diverse, where inclusion is an organically natural way of being.
It is my firm belief that EDI also fosters innovation which is an important subject for the rail sector and those who work in it.”
